2008 North Carolina State Fair

I went to the Fair this morning. I'm home on a break then back again. I've taken a zillion pictures. Here's a preview.

Shaved sheep in crazy shirts

What does cheerwine taste like? And why shave sheep and then put them into shirts?

The mysteries of life are untold, are they not?

Sadly, these were "eating" sheep, not "knitting" sheep. I suppose you shave them to make the lamb chops more visible when showing them.

For those of you not in the South, Cheerwine is a soft drink. I am pretty sure it is only distributed in the South, like Sundrop. Cheerwine is a cherry cola, heavy on the cherry. Sundrop is like a Mountain Dew knock off. They are, as I like to call them, "redneck pop," usually consumed in trailer parks, bass boats and monster truck shows. I don't ever recall a restaurant serving them. To me it was most absurd that they are marketing a Cheerwine flavored fudge at the State Fair. And for the record, it was the first time I had Cheerwine.

Cool to call a soft drink "Cheerwine". Do you think we could wait till after dark and liberate the sheep? I'm in. Just give me about 36 hours to get there okay?
